Jay Clark was a wonderful friend of mine who fought bladder cancer for 7 long years. His main goal was to see his son graduate from high school. Through all his pain, discomforts and the insults cancer caused on his body, he kept fighting and kept smiling. Just before he died he gave me a small little marble plaque. It reads " If you think you are beaten you are; If you think you dare not, you don't; If you'd like to win but think you can't it is almost certain you won't. If you think you'll lose, you've lost. For out in the world you'll find success begins with a person's will. It's all a state of mind."
You, Mr Adams.. like Jay, have more will than anyone I know. As I was always amazed how he kept fighting day after day, so I am amazed how you keep running mile after mile. Keep up the great work. We look forward to seeing you in Chapel Hill today.
