A 740 mile run across the state of NC to raise money in the fight against cancer

Day nine proved to be a tough day. About five miles into the run this morning, Scott began to feel great pain in his leg (just above the knee on the inside). He ran through it for several miles, but finally the pain was such that he had to stop. He rested and treated the injury for a couple of hours and then began to run (hobble) again. In the end, he still managed to cover 31 miles today, which is pretty unbelievable.

This evening, he has been icing and treating the injured leg. He is very tired tonight. But he plans to run whatever he can tomorrow along the planned route from the Winston-Salem area to the south Greensboro area. He wants to do what he can.

Many of you have been asking about his arrival in our area on Friday. At this point, we plan to greet him in two locations. We will gather around 2:45-3:30 on Smith Level Road just down from The Open Eye (across from Glass Half Full). We also plan to gather at the end of the run, where Lystra Road and Fearrington Point meet, around 4:15-4:30. These are estimations, of course, and we don't know for sure how his injury will be by Friday. Check here tomorrow night to find out the latest about Friday.

Thanks to Sally Meadors and Minnie Sue Douglas who finished their driving shift tonight, but not, however, before rescuing Scott from a huge hail storm (yesterday), helping him tend to his bad leg, and then having their car battery die! They got a passerby to jump the battery, but it ended up being a long day for everyone. Thanks for your help these two days, Mom and Aunt Sally! They were replaced by Marcia and Liz who will bring Scott to Chapel Hill!

Meanwhile, Scott will continue to run as much as his body allows him to run. He knows well how many of you are cheering for him and supporting him. He appreciates it very much.

Let's hope and pray for a better day tomorrow.
For now, sleep is a very good idea! Day nine has been a long one . . . .
