I thought it might be interesting to some of you what a typical day in the life of running across the state of North Carolina entails. 5am (LRB)--Get up, make sure legs are still there. Smoke on the Water.... or More Adventures from the Little Runner Boy

Today we discovered there is more than one way to Manteo. Wind shifts to the southwest this morning brought the smoke from fires burning in Pocosin Lakes Wildlife Refuge directly in our path. By lunchtime at noon, with 25 miles down, visibility was reduced to under 1/2 mile and getting worse by the minute. A State of Mind

Jay Clark was a wonderful friend of mine who fought bladder cancer for 7 long years. His main goal was to see his son graduate from high school. Through all his pain, discomforts and the insults cancer caused on his body, he kept fighting and kept smiling. Just before he died he gave me a small little marble plaque.
